Homecoming Celebrates Pride, Unity and Community

Wyandanch’s school community came together under sunny skies on Oct. 24 for a spirited homecoming celebration that began with a parade through town led by the Wyandanch Memorial High School Army JROTC and energized by the sounds of the marching band.
The parade featured high school clubs, floats, administrators, representatives from schools across the district, community members and a lineup of exotic cars, filling the route with Wolves pride before the festivities moved to the football field.
Prior to kickoff, senior football players were recognized for their contributions to the varsity program. Continuing a longtime tradition, each senior received a certificate and a rose to present to a family member.
At halftime, members of the homecoming court were introduced: freshman queen Melasia Clayton, sophomore king Erik Lopez, sophomore queen Haittie Dorvily, junior king Jayshawn Coleman, junior queen Evelin Benitez, senior king Juan Cisneros and senior queen Aimi Grant. The celebration continued with stellar performances by the marching band and cheer team.
The Wolves faced the Center Moriches Red Devils in a hard-fought contest, falling 7-0.
“Homecoming at Wyandanch Memorial High School is more than just a celebration; it is a reflection of our school’s pride, unity and the strong sense of community that makes Wyandanch special,” teacher Michelle Lloyd said.
