Wyandanch Students Celebrate the Superpower of Bilingualism

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School welcomed proud families to its annual ENL Commanding Celebration on Oct. 16, recognizing 29 English language learners who achieved the Commanding level on the New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test, or NYSESLAT.

“Your journey does not end here,” Director of ENL, Bilingual & World Language Gaetano Vaccaro told the students. He encouraged them to view bilingualism as a “superpower” that can open doors to future accomplishments, including the Junior Seal of Biliteracy in middle school and the Seal of Biliteracy upon high school graduation.
