Kimberly Clinton Named New MLK Principal

The Wyandanch School District has appointed Kimberly Clinton as the new principal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, effective July 20. She replaces the retiring Dr. Monique Habersham.
Clinton had served as an assistant principal at the district’s Milton L. Olive Middle School since August 2022. She previously worked as an assistant principal, instructional coach and math special education teacher at Collaborative Arts Middle School in Queens, and as a special education teacher at Public School 181 in Brooklyn.
Clinton earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from Hampton University, a dual master’s degree in general education and special education from Brooklyn College, and her educational leadership master’s degree from the American College of Education.
“It is truly an honor to join the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School community as principal,” Clinton said. “I am grateful to our superintendent, the Board of Education and the entire Wyandanch community for this incredible opportunity. My leadership is rooted in the belief that trust, relationships, collaboration and high expectations create the conditions for every child to succeed. I am excited to listen, learn and work alongside our dedicated staff, families, students and district leaders as we continue advancing the vision of One Wyandanch. To our MLK Elite students, know that I believe in each of you before even meeting you. My promise is to create a school where you feel safe, supported, challenged, and celebrated – a place where your voice matters, your potential is recognized and you are encouraged to dream big. Together, we will build on our strengths, celebrate our diversity and ensure that every decision we make is centered on what is best for children.”
