Wyandanch Art Students Participate in Challenging Olympics of Visual Arts

Art students from Wyandanch Memorial High School and Milton L. Olive Middle School recently attended the 44th annual Olympics of the Visual Arts in Saratoga, New York. Throughout the day, participants in subject areas such as architecture, drawing, fashion, illustration, painting, photography and sculpture were challenged to think creatively and collaboratively, fully engaging in both the OVA’s long-term design challenge and the on-demand design challenge, providing the Wyandanch scholars with a truly meaningful experience.
“Although Wyandanch did not place this year, we are eager and hungry to return next year with a drive to excel,” teacher Jill Pepe said. “The level of creative problem-solving and teamwork demonstrated truly reflected the strength of our students. While awards and recognition are always exciting, every scholar who participated was a success simply by being present – actively exercising their creativity, communication and collaboration skills in such a dynamic environment.”
