Wyandanch scholars in grades 1-5 visited the Lafrancis Hardiman Elementary School/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School Library Media Center last month to find it transformed into a lively “Reading Cafe.” Students rotated from table to table, “tasting” different genres of books, taking notes on placemats and completing menus to reflect on what they read.

“It was a great opportunity for the students to see different books and get an up-close look at titles they don’t normally check out,” library media specialist Pam Calandra said. “Some of them even found a new favorite.”
