The event celebrated the students’ achievements in the four pillars of the National Honor Society: scholarship, service, leadership and character.
The ceremony began with a procession of inductees and the presentation of colors by the school’s JROTC Color Guard. Paige Henry led the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by welcoming remarks from National Honor Society President Abigail Argueta Vigil. Communications Director Lorica Michel delivered a poem before current NHS members conducted the traditional candle-lighting ceremony representing scholarship, service, leadership and character. Imutinyanosa Aghedo spoke about scholarship, Treasurer Keiry Argueta reflected on service, Vice President Iyana Carpenter addressed leadership and Secretary Katia Pereira-Alvarado highlighted character. NHS members then shared biographies of the inductees before Argueta Vigil led the students in the National Honor Society pledge. Guerly Noel performed a song selection during the ceremony.
