Wyandanch Appoints Rosalina Brown as Director of Special Education

Rosalina Brown has been appointed as the Wyandanch School District’s director of special education, effective Jan. 26.
Brown previously served as the district’s bilingual Committee on Preschool Special Education and Committee on Special Education chairperson. Prior to coming to Wyandanch, she worked as the assistant director of special education for the Children's Center of United Cerebral Palsy of Long Island, education coordinator for Alternatives for Children, program coordinator and special education teacher at Brooklyn Blue Feather Elementary School, and as a special education teacher for the New England Center for Children.
A Commack resident, Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, her master’s degree in education and special education from Touro College and her advanced certificate in school district leadership from the College of Saint Rose.
“I am truly honored and grateful for the trust placed upon me in selecting me as the director of special education for the Wyandanch School District,” Brown said. “I do not take this responsibility lightly, and I thank the members of the Board, Superintendent Dr. Erik Wright and members of our district leadership team for the confidence they have shown in my ability to serve our students and families. I am committed to ensuring that every student receives high quality instruction, individualized supports and access to opportunities that allow them to be as successful as possible. By working collaboratively with our educators, related service providers, administrators and families, I believe we can build responsive, inclusive programs that truly meet the needs of every learner. Together, as One Wyandanch, we will continue to stand strong supporting our students the way a wolf pack supports one another, ensuring no child walks their educational journey alone. I am thankful for this opportunity and excited to continue to serve the Wyandanch community with dedication, integrity and purpose.
