High School Hosts First-Ever Northwell Medical Career Day

Wyandanch Memorial High School held its first-ever Northwell Medical Career Day on Dec. 5, giving scholars the rare opportunity to interact with Northwell Health professionals and learn about the wide range of career possibilities in the medical field. In addition to physicians, students also met with specialists from departments such as human resources, foundation work and computer science/data analysis, helping them explore the variety of workplace opportunities within a medical setting.
The event, held in the school’s gym and auditorium, also featured a series of impactful presentations from doctors and other medical experts on topics such as “From Immigrant to Cardiac Surgeon,” “Introduction to Nutritional Services,” “Road to Becoming a Nurse,” and “Drug Awareness and Prevention.”
Northwell offers this exceptional partnership opportunity to high schools only once every four to seven years.
